Centre Entrances
Our main entrance facing the parking lot has a ramp leading up to it for wheelchair users. Depending on the size of your wheels you may be more comfortable using our back entrance, which is level to the ground. If this is the case our staff are happy to help you out.
Layout
The Back to the Sea Centre flows in a circular pattern. Guests enter into the reception and gift-shop area, then are directed right to our exhibits. The touch tanks lie at the back of the centre, opposite one another with space for the back entrance to be used if needed. There is a small hall leading to behind the front desk. The washrooms are located on the left side of this hall. The Kids Corner is past the touch tanks, on the left side of the centre. Walking through the kids corner leads back to the reception area.
Washrooms
Both of our washrooms are gender-neutral and do not require a key or a code to access. They lie behind the front desk, most easily accessed by walking through our centre to the touch tank area, then entering the hallway opposite the back entrance. They are on the left if entering this way. There is a baby changing station in the washroom located closest to the touch tank exhibit.
Seating
We have a bench in our reception area for anyone who needs to take a rest. Our Kids Corner also has small stools for children to sit at when they're engaging in an activity. There are also benches outside of our main entrance.
Lights and Sound
Our centre gets a large amount of natural light from all directions, so we do not often have artificial lighting on. As for sound, our centre can be loud, since we have pumps and aquatic equipment on at all times, and especially when we have multiple groups inside.
Scent-Free and Allergens
The Back to the Sea Centre has a scent free policy; staff do not wear scents on the premises and we do not use scented cleaning products.
Anyone who has a seafood allergy should exercise extreme caution when visiting the centre as our tanks contain live shellfish and other aquatic invertebrates, and many of our animals are fed pieces of fish as part of their diet.
